Coaching

The “Why” for Coaching

God has designed us for relationships and given each of us different gifts and talents. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, 12b says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up…A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” We believe the best work and results come out of collaboration and reflection. When you are in the midst of the work, it can be a challenge to step out of the immediate and plan for the future.

Coaching is a process that allows you to reflect and think through your ministry and/or personal goals. Your coaches are there to listen, ask questions and help you identify manageable next steps for achieving your goals. Your coaches are also there to help you think differently and shift your mindset in regards to your goals and how you approach them. Here are a few Case Studies from past coaching clients (names have been changed) that model the kind of work we do.

Case Study #1 - Riley still isn’t fully funded and really needs the support of current donors, but has had trouble maintaining regular contact with them. She had been putting off creating a ministry newsletter for months. She was deep into the work of her ministry and felt that every month that passed was another month of content she needed to share, which made her feel even more overwhelmed. During a coaching call, we helped Riley create a simple format for her ministry newsletters. We helped her set a goal of blocking out time in her schedule to create her letter and get it sent out. We also encouraged her to create several newsletters or “batch” them for future months using a consistent template. Riley was able to achieve her goal and send out an update to her supporters!

Case Study #2 - A band that does ministry to public high schools was looking for ways to increase their revenue so they can have more time to write and create songs. They were encouraged to increase their prices for their events, which has resulted in better paying contracts and more time to do more intentional song writing and production. Their coaching sessions have been focused on finding and scheduling blocks of time to work on content creation. As a result of the workshop and coaching combined, the band members are also doing more work around tasks that fall under their skills set and passions.

Case Study #3- Jason and his wife moved to their current community to start working for a local ministry. The move was costly and they are still in need of funding to fully support their family. Jason knows he needs to focus on building their donor base, but the immediate needs of the ministry often take precedence. Taking the time to sit down and talk with donors often feels overwhelming and like drudgery. In our coaching calls with Jason we helped his set his goal of increasing support and had him break down tangible next steps for tackling his donor list. Jason took his next steps-he scheduled a time to make the call and reached out to a donor, which resulted in a 25% increase in donations!

Coaching creates a space for deeper thinking and outside perspective as well as accountability in taking steps toward progress. We see a shift in habits and your work towards intentionality as “wins” even if the goal itself doesn’t get fully accomplished.

If you are at a place in your ministry where you are seeking this kind of support, we encourage you to schedule a coaching call.

I also am receiving great coaching which is moving me forward in my dreams and bringing much joy and freedom as well as the faith that God is leading me. Now, I can rest in that knowledge as I pursue doing what I love in a way that fits into my life in part-time ministry and as a wife and mother. Thank you Magnify Missions! The time spent with you has been life-changing!
